The Nissan PlayStation GT Academy was a contest that allowed Gran Turismo video gamers the opportunity to become real-world racers, and inspired the 2023 movie Gran Turismo. Winners were rewarded with a place in Nissan's Driver Development programme as well as entry into an international race or series with Nissan. The competition was covered by Channel 5 and ITV4 during its lifetime, with this 370Z as the winner over multiple years.
The car was built from a brand new road car direct from the Nissan factory by RJN Motorsport. It was fitted with an FIA-approved roll cage and the interior stripped. There were also two bucket seats for coaching and a brake pedal on the passenger side. Safety equipment included a plumbed-in fire extinguisher and battery isolator. Outside, a GT4 body kit and carbon rear wing were fitted. The car still has its correct Academy decals and numbers. Underneath, the car features a NISMO limited slip differential with adjustable preload and plates. There's also Ohlins two-way TTX dampers. The brakes are standard, save for an upgrade to the pad compound. The car, built in April 2009, is not road-registered. Its odometer shows 40,570km.
