The first performance version of Citroen's small AX hatchback was the limited‑run AX Sport from 1987, with a 1.3‑litre engine and twin carburettors producing 95bhp. Before long, this was joined by the AX 1.4 GT, with a single‑carburettor 85bhp 1360cc engine, as also found in the Peugeot 205 XS. From 1991, when a revamp of the entire range was planned and to coincide with tougher EU emission regulations, the GT received fuel injection in place of the previous carb system.

This slightly modified grey example was registered in September 1992, and has had five former keepers since then. The odometer reading is 103,386 miles. There is no current MoT on the car; its last ticket expired in October 2018.

The history folder includes 2012 and 2014 MoT certificates plus the original document wallet including the owner's handbook, alarm system guide and Citroen Assist booklet. The service book is stamped up until 103,344 miles in July 2014, when the cambelt and water pump were also replaced. There's also a handful of old tax discs. The stack of bills for work and parts date back to the mid-1990s and, together with the service book, confirm the comparatively low mileage. They also show a regular care and attention to any issues throughout the AX's life.
