1923 Hupmobile R11 4-Door Tourer
1923 Hupmobile R11 4-Door Tourer
Lot Number: 413
Estimate: £12,000 - 16,000
- V5 Present
- Chassis number: R11223
Manufactured in 1923, this stately and very lovely 2.8‑litre Hupmobile Touring R model spent almost a century in the United States, before coming to the United Kingdom in 2015. The vendor believes that it is the only example of its type in Britain.
While it has obviously been restored at some point, it's unclear when this was from the available paperwork. However, aside from a few signs of general wear, the car's body is in very good, while the interior and soft‑top are in especially good order. Sidescreens are included. While many Series R cars were being sold with metal disc wheels by the time this example appeared, this one is fitted with the more elegant polished wood 'artillery' items. The recorded mileage is shown as 36,567.
The Hupmobile comes with its V5, a copy of its New York State registration receipt, State of Maine registration document showing export approval (along with other documentation regarding its import to the UK), and Series R owner's instruction manual. There's also a copy of the Hupp Herald (the journal of the Hupmobile Club), a club directory of other Hupmobile owners, and some ignition and lighting circuit diagrams.
