1955 Aston Martin DB2/4
Lot Number: 395
Result inc Premium: £91,800
- V5 Present
- MoT Exempt
- Chassis number: LML934
The Aston Martin DB2/4, built from 1953 to 1957, was a development of the preceding DB2, with a wraparound windscreen, larger bumpers, and repositioned headlights.
This metallic red 2922cc 140bhp example, registered in June 1955 and one of the final MkI variants before the facelifted MkII of the same year, has been owned by the vendor since 2006 and used regularly during that time. He tells us it has always been 'well‑maintained and very reliable', with health issues now behind his reason for selling. During his custodianship, the vendor reports that the car has had a full respray, new interior and wiring loom, a rechrome and had its wheels powder‑coated.
The history folder includes current and previous V5Cs, plus numerous invoices. These include ones for a windscreen (£300 in 2016), wiring loom (£472 in 2015, not including fitting), bonnet restoration (£450 in January 2009), retrim of the front seats (£1158.63 in 2008) and work on the alloy body (£7161 in 2007). Quite a few of the invoices are from the long‑established and reputable Aston Service Dorset. There are also MoT certificates from 2009 and 2010 plus an Aston Service Dorset reprint of the owner's manual.
The current mileage is indicated as 60,540, with two previous owners noted by the V5C. Aside from a few signs of age and use, the body is in good order, with a tidy beige leather interior.
