The Ariel Red Hunter was announced in November 1931 and, with its 95mph plus top speed, was hailed as a 'hyper‑sports' machine by Motor Cycling magazine. Engine sizes encompassed 250cc, 250cc and 500cc during the type's life. Production continued through until 1959, making this 350cc example, built at the end of 1958 but registered in 1959, one of the final ones.
Having been rebuilt during 2014 and 2015 by Magpie Motorcycles, the bike was allocated the registration number 147 UYU in 2016, having originally been registered WYK 569. It is believed to have covered just 150 miles since then, according to the odometer reading. The bike's overall condition is excellent.
In the history folder, you'll find the most recent MoT (which expired in November 2018, but a motorcycle of this age is now exempt), 1970 tax disc, Ariel Owners' Motor Cycle Club dating certificate and a few magazine articles related to the model.
