This rare Volkswagen 1600E Auto 'Variant' ‑ the name VW gave to estate versions of its Type 3 ‑ was previously part of the massive collection of 543 classics owned by British dentist Dr James Hull. In 2014, this historic fleet was sold to Jaguar Land Rover and thus the Variant was owned and looked after by its Heritage department for five years, before passing back into private hands.

This sunroof model, in white with contrasting black interior (and accessories such as window blinds, wind/rain deflector and front auxiliary lamps) was subject to a photographically‑documented restoration in the 1990s. The vendor tells us that, while the interior and mechanical side are in very good order, the paintwork could now do with some improvement.
