Lot Number:
Estimate: £11,000 - 13,000
  • V5 Present
  • Chassis number: ANS13947
This Austin‑Healey 'Frogeye' Sprite was registered in April 1959 ‑ when the car was noted as yellow. It was changed to its current red in 1996 when it seems that the car was restored, judging by the photos in the history file. The car also seems to have been updated with a 1098cc A‑series engine (according to the V5C) rather than the original 948cc unit, plus there's now a wooden dashboard as well.

The paperwork file is quite extensive and includes the V5C and a stack of invoices dating back to the 1970s. Among these are a bill for Thatcham Category 2 immobiliser in 1998 as well as a report from Hall's Garage, the MG specialist in Bourne, Lincolnshire, for an engine rebuild, although it's unclear quite when this was. The old continuation card logbook document is in the folder as are some photos of the car during and after its restoration. The MoT certificates date from 1972, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2002, 2003, 2005 and 2009. The current recorded mileage is 8730 although it looks from the MoTs as if the odometer was recorded back in 1997 after the restoration was completed. Some newspaper articles complete the documentation.
