The Ford P100 pick‑up was introduced in South Africa in 1971, based on the Ford Cortina MkIII. The bodywork was changed for 1977, to correspond with that of the Ford Cortina MkIV, progressing to that of the MkV in 1980. Official Ford exports from South Africa to Europe began in 1982. In late‑1987, the truck was rebodied using a Ford Sierra‑based cab, and in this form continued through to 1993.

This example, which presents very well throughout, was registered in the UK in September 1987, having been brand new at its date of registration. The car has had just one private owner throughout its entire life. The MoT is valid until April 2023 and the odometer shows 60,242 miles, which is believed genuine.

The history folder includes the current V5C plus an older one and an original V5 document, operating guide, audio guide, Truckman Tops flyer, Ford dealership guide and a couple of photos. There's also an unused book of Bristol Street Motors discount vouchers plus the service book - which is stamped up to 34,000 miles in 1991. The MoT certificates date from 2000 (at 54,903 miles), 2001, 2002, 2003 2004 and 2008. The colour is recorded as being changed from yellow to beige in 1997, although as its paint shade is a very yellow-beige, this might not be because of a repaint but just a clarification.
