Lot Number:
Estimate: £5,000 - 7,000
  • V5 Present
  • MoT Exempt
  • Chassis number: 10801822007072
The vendor purchased this 2778cc Mercedes‑Benz W108 in 2016. The car was registered in May 1968 and has 16,675 miles showing on its odometer. The last MoT was undertaken at 15,209 miles in January 2018.

The vendor tells us that a £7800 restoration was carried out during the late 1980s. He regards the car as 'mechanically good', with receipts for engine work in the file. The gearbox was apparently rebuilt in 2016, although there is no receipt for this. Inside, new door seals are needed; these are supplied but not fitted. However, the woodwork has been removed, refinished and reinstalled. The heater seals have also been renewed.

The car was stored in 2019 after rust was found in the inner sills. Work started in March 2020, but was then halted by COVID. It resumed in autumn 2021 with, on the right‑hand side, a new inner sill fabricated, front inner wing repaired, rear wheel arch repair panel fitted and an extensive repair to the inner rear wheel arch carried out. Other work involved a lower rear wing repair with new spare wheel well panel, replacement of part of the boot floor panel and sections fabricated from new metal for the rear chassis, along with a new rear panel. According to the vendor, it now needs a left‑hand side inner sill plus repairs to the rear left‑hand wheel arch and the bottoms of the rear doors. There are photos of the work done in the file. The car has been stored since 2022.

The history folder contains the V5C, as well as bills dating back to 1984. The MoT certificates span 1992 to 2019 (with a few years missing). There's also a copy of the Mercedes data card plus receipts from 1986 to 2021 and a memory stick containing images.
