The Onyx Bobcat was a kit car available between 1998 and 2001, with around 60 made by Onyx Sportscars of Grimsby. They used Mini running gear for their underpinnings, with a very distinctive and unusual open body on top.

This example was registered in July 2001 and is correctly registered on the V5C as an Onyx, rather than as the original donor vehicle. It features a Metro 1275cc A‑series engine. The recorded mileage showing on the odometer is 98,804 miles and the MoT is valid until April 2023.

The history folder runs to the V5C, which shows four previous registered keepers from new. There's also the current MoT certificate, as well as ones from 2013, 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2021, along with a variety of loose invoices dating from 2018 to 2021. Among other work, these show that the refurbished Speedline Gold wheels were fitted in 2018, while the Recaro bucket front seats were retrimmed in November 2019 in Brooklands Caramel hide with contrasting black top stitching plus the Onyx logo design, at a cost of £850. A notebook has some older invoices from 2013 to 2014, plus some handwritten notes on maintenance. One of the bills shows new engine valves from September 2013.
