Lot Number: 118
Estimate: £9,000 - 11,000
  • V5 Present
  • Chassis number: B395014932GT0DHR0
This final Series V incarnation of Sunbeam's two‑seater Alpine roadster was registered in April 1967 and has been owned by the vendor since 2017 ‑ he's the tenth owner since it was new. Fitted with Rootes' well‑regarded 1725cc five‑bearing engine, the car has been mechanically upgraded with Holbay equipment, electronic ignition, Weber 32/36 twin‑choke carburettor and a stainless steel exhaust, with the vendor reporting its performance now as 'quite lively'. The engine was overhauled in 2018 at a cost of £3500, while other enhancements include a new black soft‑top (fitted earlier this year) plus seats retrimmed in black and white leather. The wire wheels and overdrive have been on the car since new. The vendor's assessment of the bodywork is 'rust‑free' with a 'solid and undersealed chassis'. While the 20,426 miles are unwarranted, the mileage at the time of the engine rebuild was around 20,300, so it has covered very few miles since then. The history folder includes MoT certificates and invoices for work and parts stretching back to 2015.
