Estimate: No Reserve
  • V5 To be applied for
  • Chassis number: WDBBA48D1GA042880
With the big‑engined 5549cc V8 560SL not being available when current in Europe, examples are few and far between on this side of the Atlantic. This one was part of a private SL collection in 'dry‑state' California, until being shipped to the UK in 2020. Once here, the vendor reports that it was resprayed earlier this year, the electrics checked over and other work carried out. The import taxes have been paid, and a V5 registration document applied for. The document folder includes the original Los Angeles Mercedes‑Benz invoice ‑ for $55,060 including, amusingly, a 'gas guzzler tax' of $1300 ‑ plus an Experian vehicle history report that throws up no red flags. There's also the rather tatty remnants of the owner's handbook, a guide to the Becker radio/cassette player and instructions on how to operate the cruise control. The original service history book shows servicing every year through until 1993, when the mileage was 73,804 miles.
