Lot Number:
Estimate: £40,000 - 60,000
  • V5 Present
  • MoT Jan 2022
  • Chassis number: B20FV
This car started life as a 1949 Bentley MkVI saloon ‑ the 18th example built ‑ but was converted during 1976 and 1977 by Alan Padgett of Padgett Motor Engineers into a two‑seater special, with Padgett/Watson two‑seater body finished off by the Swallow Coachbuilding Company. Lucas P80 headlamps were fitted and a hood and tonneau cover were made especially. The 4257cc six‑cylinder engine was also converted to the later 'Full Flow' type.

Over the last 10 years, the Bentley has covered around 220 miles, being dry‑stored the rest of the time according to the vendor.

The history file includes the V5C, current MoT (valid until January 2022), many service sheets and sundry other paperwork relating to the vehicle. There are also build and valuation sheets, photos of the car at various points during its life, a Bentley MkVI spec sheet, assorted bills and associated correspondence dating back to the 1970s showing lots of care and attention over the years. Among the invoices is one for new wire wheels in 2001, totalling £2125. The recorded mileage is 78,920, which is believed to have been the total done since the Bentley was rebuilt into a special.
