Lot Number: 141
Estimate: £18,000 - 22,000
  • MoT Dec 2021
  • Chassis number: SARRAWBMG000971
When British Motor Heritage began producing MGB bodyshells again, it gave Rover the opportunity to look closely at the idea of a reintroducing a small sports car again, encouraged by the success of Mazda's MX‑5. The result was the limited edition MG RV8, which updated the MGB with a 3.9 litre Rover V8 engine and veneered burr elm woodwork and Connolly leather. Production lasted from 1992 to 1995, with 1983 cars produced, many of which went  to Japan.

This example was registered in October 1994 and, unlike many of its sisters, was a British market car. The odometer reading is 12,161 miles; a check back on the MoT history reveals that the car has gone 'around the clock' as its total back in 2006 was 73,722 miles. Going over 100,000 miles happened at some point in 2014. The car's current MoT expires in December 2021.

There's a well‑organised history folder that contains the current V5C, recording eight former registered owners, plus the current MoT certificate and previous ones from 2019 back to 2001. There are invoices dating back to the mid‑1990s showing considerable expenditure for servicing and other work, with one of the more recent ones from 2020 being for repair and repaint of the rear bumper.

The car is in generally good condition for its age and mileage, although there is some paint discolouration on the bonnet, patina to beige leather interior and stitching missing from the black hood.
