Lot Number: 420
Estimate: £9,000 - 11,000

For those wanting to take their track day adventures to  a new level, this race‑prepared BMW coupe could well be the car to help you make that move. The vendor tells us that it was built in 2011/2, based on a 1995 E36 318iS, with the chassis and M42 engine having covered a comparatively low mileage before conversion for the Kumho BMW Championship. Behind its build was a professional classic, sports and race car builder, who aimed to achieve a high standard of fit and finish.

The engine is internally in standard specification, but includes a headlight cold air intake and Vortex stainless steel exhaust system. It recorded 148bhp on a rolling road, 8bhp up on the standard 140bhp. Twin fuel pumps have been installed to avoid fuel surge and starvation, and the engine and gearbox mounts have been uprated. A stripped‑back loom has been fitted.

Underneath, the high quality coilover suspension is by AST and includes custom rear spring rates plus adjustable front top mounts and rear lower camber arms. The tyres are 205/50/15 Kumho V70 tyres. The vendor reports that the car is able to 'corner as quickly as higher class entries'.

The livery is a distinctive Porsche Riviera Blue, with sponsorship and paint by a major bodyshop and vehicle conversion company. It includes a Super‑Touring specification front bumper with integral splitter and rear wing (all within championship class regulations). A Safety Devices multi‑point bolt‑in roll cage, Cobra carbon fibre race seat (with head restraint) and aluminium side brackets, BMW Z3 short‑shifter and six‑point harness (in date) are included in the stripped‑out and painted interior. All of the side and rear glass has been replaced by P4P polycarbonate windows; the front windscreen is heated (allowing for the heater system to be removed). The required fire extinguisher system is in date, and there's an electrical cut‑off switch.

Among the BMW's past racing achievements are:
* Kumho BMW Class D Championship winner, 2013
* Third overall in Kumho BMW Championship, 2013 and 2015
* Three seasons resulted in 21 class podium finishes and zero DNFs
* Rookie of the season awards 2012 and 2015
* Best Team Award 2013

As well as the Kumho BMW Championship, this car is eligible for many other series including Northern Saloons, 750 Motor Club etc.
