1974 Honda Z50J Monkey Bike
1974 Honda Z50J Monkey Bike
Lot Number: 526
Result inc Premium: £3,100
The Honda Z series, nicknamed the Monkey Bike, was a line of minibikes dating from 1961 to 1999. The original prototype, the Z100, was originally produced as a children's ride at a Japanese amusement park called Tama Tech. It was then refined for mass production and reached the European market in 1964. The bikes became popular for getting up and down large tanker decks and are often seen around racing circuit pits, where they're used as a fun but fast way of getting around.
This 1974 49cc example is described by the vendor as being totally original and is showing 1308km on its odometer. It was imported into the UK in 2021 and given the age‑related registration CCA 922M. We're told that the bike has recently been serviced, runs well and retains its original ignition key. The only paperwork that comes with the bike is the V5C.
