Lot Number:
Estimate: £7,500 - 8,500
  • V5 Present
  • MoT Exempt
  • Chassis number: MHS7D4122A
Acquired by the last registered owner in 2011 after he spotted it rotting in a garden in Bristol. He was told that it had been there for two years due to the clutch failing and prior to that had been stored in a barn for seventeen years. He replaced the clutch, totally rebuilt the braking system using all new parts throughout and undertook the remaining work as required including welding around the headlights and these areas were rebuilt. Eventually he produced a replica of the British Leyland 1968 London to Sydney rally car. It was car no. 51 and crewed by Paddy Hopkirk, Tony Nash and Alec Poole. Both Paddy Hopkirk and Alec Poole have signed the dashboard. The car was re‑registered in the UK in 1978 and records three owners since. It comes with many MoTs dating from 1976 to 1993 and more recently to 2018 when last issued, many tax discs from the 1980's and 1990s, green log book dated from 1966 and various club documents.
