This Mercedes Cabriolet was purchased some time during the 1970's by local businessman and car dealer, Fred Easton. The family of Mr Easton, who still own this car, were told that he bought the car on his way home from Norwich when it was parked outside a house with a For Sale sign in it. When he inquired with the sellers the asking price he was told, "It's a lot of money, it's a thousand pounds", to which Fred replied "I'll have it".  The car was his prized possession, brought out on high days and holidays and remained with him and his family until now. When the car was purchased, it bore registration number 500 JYD which was eventually transferred onto another of Fred's classic cars which he felt it suited better. An age related number, OFF 213, was issued by the DVLA. In 2002 Fred suffered a stroke after which the car received very little use. It

was then registered to Fred's daughter in order to keep it insured. The car remained in storage in the garage beside his house for many years. After Fred's death, it was recovered in 2018 by Dave Brown Classic Services for mechanical recommissioning and to make the car roadworthy. In particular, the engine has been stripped and rebuilt. Although MoT exempt, it has been newly issued until November 2020 and, apart from that, is very much as it was when it was recovered from the garage. The history file contains twenty-four MoTs dating from 1979 through to the last one issued in 2012, invoices from 1972 and 1973 detailing work carried out by a previous owner and invoices from Dave Brown Classic Services. The mileage is recorded at 97,486.
