1971 FORD CAPRI 1600 GT XLR

1,599cc. This pre-facelift Ford Capri 1600 GT has been owned by the vendor since 2005. After two years of ownership, the car was taken off the road to be restored which was finally completed in 2022. Fitted with an unleaded head with new valves by Coventry Classic Engines in 2023 with only 5 miles use. In 2017 it was issued with an MoT and at the same time subject to some recommissioning and service with only 60 miles having been covered since. A full list of the external and internal restoration work undertaken is provided in the history box but included inner cills rebuilt and outer replaced, the wheel arches, wings, bonnet, boot and headlight bowls were either replaced with new or rebuilt or repaired. Fully resprayed in modern red Ford paint and the wheels have been refurbished and fitted with brand new Uniroyal tyres. Internally, the car has been professionally re-trimmed and fitted with new carpets, head-lining, seats and front and rear door-cards. Many other new parts have been fitted including carburettor, electronic ignition, battery and cables.

The history file includes a large quantity of receipts, various MoTs dating from 1989 to 2017, original handbooks, older and newer V5's and spare keys. The mileage is recorded at 69,155.
