New to the Ministry of Defence in 1964, serving with the South Eastern Division until 1975, after which this 2498cc diesel Land Rover Series IIA was registered for civilian use (in September 1975). Its odometer shows 87,555 miles. Its last MoT expired in July 2016 after having been tested at an indicated 83,392 miles the year before. However, as an historic vehicle, the Series IIA is now MoT-exempt. The vehicle has been fully rebuilt during 2009 to 2011 on a galvanised Richards chassis and fitted with a 1991 200TDi Discovery engine. It was repainted in 2022 in NATO Bronze Green. Other features include a heated front screen, new canvas roof (ex-MoD stock), new Autosparks wiring loom and alternator. The vehicle is described as running well, although does sometimes jump out of second gear.
The history file includes the current and past V5Cs, MoT certificates back to 2001, old tax discs and a large stack of invoices.
