This 1.6-litre Sunbeam Alpine Series 2 was manufactured in October 1961 but taken to France; it was eventually UK-registered in April 1968. It has just been recommissioned after its last owner, an active club member and enthusiast, passed away. The last MoT expired in December 2020 after being tested the year before at an indicated 9112 miles; however, as an historic vehicle, the Sunbeam is now MoT-exempt. The odometer now shows 9712 miles although the actual total is 35,479 miles as the speedometer was zeroed and recalibrated at 28,568 miles when the larger Mini-Lite wheels were fitted. The engine was rebuilt at 24,210 miles; the head has been converted to unleaded as well. Recommissioning included new front brake calipers, new rear wheel cylinders, brake pipes where necessary, a full service, new starter motor and an engine bay refresh. Older work includes a new mohair hood (a hard-top also comes with the car), reconditioned lever arms, stainless steel full exhaust system, new carpets, the seats recovered, new rear springs and the bumpers rechromed. The invoices for the work total £9168. Paperwork includes the V5C, a summary of the car's history, club paperwork, magazines and memorablia, and a large stack of invoices.
