1971 MGB ROADSTER
This MGB Roadster was registered in August 1971 and has six registered keepers recorded on its V5C. Its odometer shows 07,308 miles and there's no record of an MoT back to 2005, when online MoT records began. However, as an historic vehicle, the MGB no longer requires annual testing. The car was purchased in 2002 by one of its previous owners with very little salveagable and was originally Harvest Gold (it is still shown as this on the V5C, so will need updating with the DVLA). The bonnet, bootlid, doors, dashboard, most switches, dials and seats were subsequently transplanted into a donor ‘rubber bumper' shell. As the engine needed a rebuild, it was kept as a spare and a secondhand unit was purchased. The steering rack, carburettors, oil cooler, lights, gearbox, overdrive, radiator, fuel tank, axle and propshaft were reused along with the rear springs and brake drums. A good secondhand stainless steel exhaust was sourced. New track rod ends, kingpin bushes (and other bushes), anti-roll bar links, front springs, all slave cylinders, brake pads and discs were fitted and new tyres were fitted to the Rostyle wheels, which were refurbished. Also renewed were the petrol pump and starter motor. New panels included one front wing and front valance, and the rear valance was strengthened. The engine is currently not running so the car is being presented for recommissioning.
Paperwork includes the V5C and old V5, write-up of renovation work done by previous owner, a stack of invoices, notebook of expenditure and a copy of the MG Owners' Club magazine from 2021.
