1977 FORD CORTINA 3.0S

2994cc, manual. This Ford Cortina 3.0S arrived in the UK from South Africa in 2015 and has since undergone a comprehensive restoration. This involved stripping the bodywork back to bare metal for a complete respray in Signal Green, while the running gear also stripped back and resprayed. The Essex 3.0-litre OHV valve V6 and Type 5 four-speed manual gearbox were also refurbished.

The interior features Capri seats that have been professionally retrimmed, and the car sits on steel wheels from an RS2000. Suspension modifications include 25mm lowered springs with wheel spacers and GAZ dampers. The odometer shows 49,000 miles. The last MoT was passed in 2023 although, as a historic vehicle, this Cortina is exempt from requiring one. Sadly there are no receipts covering the extensive work done, but the story of its restoration was featured in Classic Ford in January 2021, and a copy of this magazine is included with the sale. The latest V5C is also present.
