1955 FORD POPULAR SPECIAL

This attractive Special is based on a 1172cc side-valve Ford Popular from 1955, but was created using components from various different vehicles. It was re-registered in November 1987, and the odometer shows 61,807 miles. We sold it to the current owner in 2024.

Although most of the mechanical parts date from the 1950s, there are some from the 1930s, and the radiator is from a Mk1 Ford Fiesta. It is believed the engine has been slightly tuned, with a larger-than-standard carburettor and an Aquaplane cylinder head. It was professionally re-sprayed in 2022 by The Body Centre in Norwich.

This Special has seen very little use lately, and the latest MoT expired in 2011, so recommissioning may be required. V5C to follow.
