1959 MORRIS MINOR 1000 CONVERTIBLE

This Morris Minor Tourer received a bare-metal restoration in 2013, and comes with an advisory-free MoT to 8th April 2027. The vendor, who has owned the car since 2019, tells us it has been “home maintained to a high standard with regular oil changes”. The engine size is recorded as 1098cc, offering better drivability than the original 948cc unit.

It comes with new tyres and battery, and the Minilite wheels have been refurbished. The positive-earth electrics have been changed to negative earth, and the ignition is electronic. The car is equipped with electric screenwasher, inertia-reel seatbelts and flashing indicators. (The original trafficators have been disconnected.) Oil pressure and water temp gauges are fitted, and the vendor says they indicate good pressure with no overheating. “The car starts on the button and there's no smoke on start-up, running or over-run,” we're told. The odometer was zeroed at the same time of its restoration, and now reads 5800 miles. 

The history file contains a good collection of receipts from 2013 onwards (one showing a new steering rack in 2020), various photos, spare keys, a photocopy of the original logbook, and a framed Heritage Certificate. This confirms that the car is an original RHD convertible, built in September 1959. Papers also include club magazines, a workshop manual and a printed list of previous owners showing that the car spent the first half of its life in the West Country.
