1978 RELIANT SCIMITAR GTE AUTO

This yellow Reliant Scimitar SE6A was purchased last year by our vendor, who then invested generously in its upkeep with long-term ownership in mind – until the re-appearance of his Triumph TR7 Sprint in our last sale sparked a change of plans.

It's powered by an upgraded 3.1-litre RS engine which, in the last couple years, has received a new aluminium radiator, cooling fan motor, stainless and rubber hoses, Lumenition electronic ignition and coil, a new manual choke conversion and a K&N air filter. The car also benefits from recent front discs, calipers and copper pipes, rear shoes, brake cylinders and adjusters, Goodridge braided hoses front & rear, new halogen headlights, new tyres and stainless wheel nuts. The front suspension has also been rebuilt with new polybushes, new Spax shocks and new springs. The odometer is showing 75,382 miles.

It comes with a well-presented history file which contains a good collection of tax discs, MoT certificates and various maintenance receipts. These mostly date from 2000-on, but also include a copy of receipt for the 3.1-litre engine in 1985. An accompanying spreadsheet details the ownership history and expenditure on maintenance and upgrades; this has included nearly £2200 spent since the vendor's acquisition in September last year. Spare keys are also present.

The V5C shows 6 former keepers, and still records the engine size as 2994cc.
