2483cc, manual with overdrive. This lovely Jaguar 240 shows only 26,923 miles on its odometer, a reading supported by a collection of MoT certificates going all the way back to 1981. It seems therefore to have had a gentle life for at least the last 45 years. The black paintwork received a bottom-half respray in 2023, and is complemented by an unmolested black leather interior featuring impressively glossy wood and a period stereo. Underneath there's a stainless steel exhaust system, and the rear window still carries the original “Queen’s Award for Industry” sticker, awarded to Bill Lyons Jaguar.

The vendor has owned the car for 11 years and has used it for a couple of weddings, but hasn’t taken it to shows. He drove it 40 miles to our premises and reports that the overdrive is working. The latest of the MoT certificates was issued with no advisories in 2017, and these are accompanied by the V5C showing 3 former keepers, and the car's original toolkit. It was first registered in April 1968.

The vendor advises that the radio aerial was cut at the time of its 2023 respray.
