1989 MERCEDES W126 500 SEL AUTO

The original owner of this 4973cc Mercedes-Benz 500 SEL, registered in January 1989 and fitted with many extras, was a London businessman; after 10 years it passed to a service manager working for the Williams Formula 1 team, and was serviced and maintained by its technicians. The current owner, who has had it for four years, has also serviced and maintained it himself, as a retired electrical and mechanical engineer. This has included replacing the timing chain and guides, rear brake discs and pads, leaking engine vacuum tubes, and the air conditioning compressor and drier, and recharging with R134 gas - so the air conditioning is now in fully-functioning order. Services have been carried out as per the mileages specified. The car is now showing 82,402 miles on its odometer and four registered keepers overall. It has an MoT through to June 2024. 

The vendor regards the car's overall original condition as excellent and reports that it drives well, albeit with light usage over the last few years. Documentation accompanying the car includes the original book pack with owner's manual, Blaupunkt radio/cassette instructions and service book, with the last entry in the book at 78,923 miles in April 2010. There's also the current and past V5Cs, tax discs, old MoT certificates back to 1999 and invoices back to the 1990s.
