This left-hand drive 1974 Mercedes-Benz C114 280C was imported from Spain in 2015 and prepared as a long distance, go anywhere, historic rally car. The suspension was reinforced and raised up 35mm using uprated springs and shocks all round. A new Weber carburettor was added but apart from this, the engine was left standard for longevity plus its ability to run on poor quality fuel in distant places such as Kazakhstan and Morocco. The car has the original five-speed gearbox. Electronic ignition was tried but the points were reinstated as being more reliable. There is a heavy duty sump guard, twin fire extinguishers, a rear roll cage and a second coil. The original fuel tank was replaced with a 110-litre aluminium one in the boot with twin fuel pumps. The rear seat has been converted into a box for spares. The car had a major service recently including new driveshafts and centre propshaft bearing. There are two spare wheels plus a jack and wheel brace.

The vendor declares that the car is running well with no issues and working air conditioning, although new tyres would probably be beneficial. A major service was undertaken in March 2024. The 280C's UK registration date was July 2015, its original one in Spain is noted as July 1974. Its odometer shows 96,973 miles and the last MoT expired in October 2020 after having been tested the previous year at an indicated 82,905 miles. However, as an historic vehicle, the Mercedes-Benz no longer requires annual testing.

Paperwork with the Mercedes includes the V5C, a large wad of invoices, some old MoTs, import paperwork from Spain and foreign travel documents.
