1982 FORD ESCORT RS 1600I

The vendor advises us that this car is in good condition, with an excellent interior that has benefitted from the front seats being recovered, meaning no rips, tears or wears on the bolsters. The rear seat material could do with stretching to achieve a good look. The engine was rebuilt approximately 2000 miles ago and recorded 117bhp on a rolling road during fettling work. It has also recently gone to a Ford Motorsport specialist who changed a water pipe and coolant and tuned the car up. However, he discovered that the timing is out by two teeth on the flywheel ring gear causing intermittent misfire in the lower rev range. The vendor tells us that it doesn't do it all the time and is fine throughout the higher rev range. However, to resolve the issue fully, the car will need a new flywheel. An immobiliser/tracker is installed which works off a mini SIM card which is mobile phone enabled. A modern Pioneer stereo is fitted which is Bluetooth-enabled and mobile phone compatible.   

The 1597cc RS 1600i was registered in December 1982 and is now showing 83,376 miles on its odometer. Its MoT is valid until February 2025. The car comes with its V5C, and a large history file, albeit with gaps in the information. It includes the operating guide and supplement, motorists' guide, audio instructions, MoT certificates back to 1986, invoices back to the 1980s, a magazine feature, technical information and workshop manuals on CD.
