1925 CHRYSLER OPEN TOP TOURER
LOT 614
This 2380cc Chrysler Open-Top Tourer, with Maxwell chassis, was declared manufactured in 1925. Maxwell's financial problems meant that it was taken over by Chrysler in 1921; the marque continued for a while, but in 1925 the name was phased out. However, the remaining chassis were used up under Chrysler-bodied and badged cars. This one was imported into the UK from South Africa in late-1989 and registered here in May 1990, and has been garaged since then; however, it has not run in over 28 years after running a bearing on the way back from a classic car show. It was stripped and rebuilt after the incident, but never for any length of time. The fuel went stale and the tank was stripped and cleaned, but never put back on, as the vendor's father didn't have time to carry on with it before his health started failing him. The vendor reports that the engine is free and not seized though. The mileage indicated by the odometer is 13,522 miles. The only documentation accompanying the Chrysler is its V5C and bill of sale from South Africa. The V5C shows just one owner since the Chrysler came to the UK.
