Registered in February 1969, this is one of the last of the Jaguar 420-based Daimler Sovereigns, as production ceased in July 1969. The car has been dry-stored for around four years, but the vendor tells us that it does run and drive. However, it will require some recommissioning following its storage. The previous owner had the Daimler for 16 years. Its last MoT expired in October 2020 after having been tested in April 2019 at 23,203 miles; as an historic vehicle though, it no longer requires annual testing. The paperwork file includes the V5C and some 21st century invoices dating from before its storage period. There's also a letter from a previous owner detailing that its engine, gearbox and suspension was overhauled at a cost of £7400 in 1996. In 1997, the body was stripped and repainted in two-pack while in 1998, there was a general overhaul of everything electrical, stainless steel silencers fitted and new carpets and door seals installed. There is also a manual override for the automatic choke. The MoT certificates date from 1997, 1998, 2007 and 2009.
