Registered in October 1980, although declared manufactured in 1979, this race-prepped Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTS has had a long racing career, with memorabilia from its motorsport days included in the history file. Now MoT-exempt, its last MoT expired in January 2015, after having been tested the previous year at 79,442 miles. The body of this car was rebuilt by specialist Micky Bolton, while the engine was done by Richard Drake with, according to the vendor, lots of new bits sourced from Classic Alfa and EB Spares. Much time was spent putting the car carefully back together. According to the vendor the car has ‘all the right bits ( plastic windows for weight saving etc)’ and was owned and driven by the notable Alfa Romeo racer Jon Dooley. The vendor describes it as a ‘fabulous cheap, entry level racer’ that is Willhire-eligible.

Please note that as is common for many race cars, this Alfa has been re-shelled at some time in the past.

The history folder includes the current and past V5Cs, MoT certificates from 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009, and assorted bills from the Eighties onwards, including bills for close to £4000 for just the parts alone to rebuild the engine in 2015, along with literature and reports relating to its racing life. There's also a section of original metal with the chassis number on, presumably removed during restoration.

The car has run in with the Historic Racing Drivers Club in past events such as the Classic Alfa Challenge for 750-116 Alfa Romeos and the Gerry Marshall Series for Group 1 and Group 1 ½ Touring Cars (in the Willhire Class for Production Touring Cars). The car is still eligible for such events and would be welcome to continue racing with the HRDC.
