Although restored over 1997 and 1998 at a cost of £10,000, this 1967 Wolseley Hornet still presents well a quarter of a century later, and was driven over 100 miles to the auction without any issues. Registered in July 1967, the car was originally a dealer demonstrator vehicle before going to an Essex family and then being passed to his son-in-law who kept it until 2019. The vendor acquired it in March 2019 - thus the car has had three owners overall from new. The indicated mileage on the odometer is 82,600 miles, which isn't warranted but is believed genuine from the MoT history. As an historic vehicle, the Wolseley no longer requires annual MoT testing; its last MoT expired in September 2018 after having been tested the previous year at 81,546 miles.
We're told that the car is running well with no issues known, and has been in occasional use since the vendor's purchase. The only upgrades are electronic ignition replacing the points. Recent work includes a full brake overhaul, new clutch and new speedo cable.
Documentation with the car includes the V5C, original bill of sale (for £554 3s 0d), selection of club magazines, magazine articles and driver's handbook. The stacks of bills are from 1990 to 1998 and 2004 to 2022, along with £10,000 of invoices for the restoration. There are also old tax discs and a large selection of MoT certificates back to 1971, which do suggest the 82,600 miles is true. The vehicle also comes with a spare set of keys.
