When launched in 1981, the Samba was Europe's most economical small car. This is a late 954cc model from the last year of production; in Style form, it featured a radio and sunroof as standard. It was owned by the vendor's father since 2010 and then passed onto her, with a Talbot specialist and friend maintaining to the car to original standards. The result is a rare survivor of one of the last Talbot-badged cars, with production having ended in May 1986 after 270,555 Sambas had been made. This one was registered in August 1986 and has had five registered keepers overall since then. It has an MoT through to January 2024 and was last serviced in January 2023. The current mileage indicated by the odometer is 45,689 miles.
The car is described as running and driving well, with no issues save for the fuel gauge sometimes not registering. The car hasn't been used in a while, but has been regularly driven around the concrete yard adjacent to the garage where the Talbot was stored.
Accompanying the car are the V5C, some invoices, an MoT certificates from 2008 to 2011, 2016, 2018 and 2023. There's also four owner's handbooks, an owner's guide, dealership directory and service book, stamped up to 48,000 miles in March 2000. There's also copies of L'Aronde (the magazine of the SIMCA Club UK), the Talbot Sports News newspaper from February/March 1982 looking at the launch of the Samba, a framed photo of the car at a show, other event memorabilia, photos of restoration work on the car and workshop manuals. And a jigsaw as well…
