1947 AUSTIN EIGHT SALOON
LOT 611
Registered in November 1947, this 900cc Austin 8 (AS1 four-door saloon) was one of the last of its type off the Longbridge production line (its chassis number is 103.042; the final one constructed was 103.585) and has been owned by the same family since 1958 and has just two registered keepers overall recorded on its V5C (the vendor's grandfather and and the vendor, from 1983 on). Its registration number, GCE 613, has been valued at £2500 alone when back on the road. The Austin has been dry-stored since around 1980; restoration started during the 1990s but was then abandoned until this year. The car has been completely stripped for rebuilding. The last MoT expired in 1978, there's a set of 15 MoT certificates from 1960 to 1978, along with a copy of the purchase receipt when bought by the vendor's family in 1958, some photos of the restoration work, and further handwritten details on the car and its history.
