This 1968 MGC, registered in January of that year, was built as a racer by MG Motorsport, after which it was passed to Holmes Racing. It was raced in the MG Car Club BCV8 series and has since been campaigned in the UK and abroad by its owners with the Classic Sports Car Club in Swinging Sixties and Cockshoot Cup events. The car is eligible for CSCC Swinging Sixties Equipe MG BCV8 events. The vendor describes the MG as running well with everything working, and was last raced in September 2023. It has been constantly developed as a racing car but remains road legal though, with an MoT until December 2024. The odometer shows 15,550 miles.
The engine was fully rebuilt in early 2023 by Mass Race Engines/Norfolk Classic Cars and only used twice since then. It has recorded 200bhp plus on a rolling road. It's equipped with triple Weber carburettors, an aluminium race head, alloy sump, electric water pump and custom stainless steel exhaust by ATM Engineering. On the suspension, the torsion bars have been uprated and there's been a Frontline conversion at the rear to coilover springs with six-link linkage. The brakes have been improved with larger front discs and calipers using Frontline components, with a rear Frontline rear disc conversion with separate caliper for handbrake and Triton balance valve front to rear and line lock. The bodywork includes lightweight fibreglass wings and bonnets, Perspex windows with vents, and large capacity foam-filled petrol tank. Inside, there's a Motalita steering wheel, Tillet race seat and in-date Race Safety Prolite harness. The boot has two dipsticks, one for the fuel tank, the other for the engine oil.
Paperwork includes the V5C, a list of the modifications, and some MoT certificates.
