1974 MERCEDES C114 280C LHD

2,746cc, 5-speed manual, left-hand drive. This Mercedes-Benz 280C was imported from Spain in 2015, when it was UK registered, and has been prepared as a long distance rally car. There is a heavy duty sump guard, twin fire extinguishers, a rear roll cage and a second coil. The original fuel tank was replaced with a 110-litre aluminium one in the boot with twin fuel pumps. The suspension was reinforced and raised up 35mm using uprated springs and shocks all round. A new Weber carburettor was added but apart from this, the engine was left standard for longevity plus its ability to run on poor quality fuel in distant places. Electronic ignition was tried but the points were reinstated as being more reliable. The rear seat has been converted into a box for spares. In March 2024 it was subject to expenditure of £3,200 at a  Mercedes-Benz specialist which included major service, new driveshafts and centre prop-shaft bearing. There are two spare wheels plus a jack and wheel brace. Described as running and driving well with no known issues and working air-con.

It comes with V5, MoT history dating from 2015 to 2019 when last issued, a large quantity of receipts and Spanish documents. Its odometer shows 96,973 miles
