1966 AUSTIN MINI COOPER S MKI

This award-winning Mk1 Mini Cooper S starred on the cover of Mini World magazine, following its expert restoration by JD Classics in 2017. That same year it won 1st prize at the Mini Cooper Register's National Mini Day concours competition at Beaulieu.

The accompanying Heritage Certificate shows that it was originally built in LHD for the North American market, finished in Tartan Red and Black with a red & gold interior, despatched to New York on 13th May 1966. It returned to the UK from sunny California in 2013, and changed hands in 2016 for over £50,000. Restoration by JD Classics involved conversion to RHD, a full retrim, and a lovely respray in the Mini's original colours. Since its return to the UK it has passed 3 MoTs (the latest in 2018), all with no advisories. The odometer shows 62,840 miles.

A previous owner enquired with the British Motor Museum's Archive Department regard the one-digit discrepancy in the chassis number, which has been attributed to a hand-written error when the record was created. Their correspondence is included in the history file. 

The car also comes with an original handbook, “First in Class” rosette, various period sales brochures and technical materials, radio instructions, HMRC import confirmation letter with NOVA reference number, and a copy of Mini Word containing the 8-page feature on this car.

The V5C is also present, indicating 3 former keepers in the UK. The current owner acquired the Mini in 2021.
