This lovely Rover P2 is a rare two-door Coupé version of the Ten, sometimes known as the "doctor’s coupé". Only 525 were built between 1938 and 1940 before civilian production ended. This survivor is one of only five roadworthy examples known to the Rover Register, and one of 250 built for the 1939 model year. It was first registered on 1st March 1939, and has been in the same family’s ownership since 1987. The odometer shows 25,627 miles.
Period luxuries include a steel sliding sunroof, rear window blind, tool kit, semaphore trafficators and an operational lubrication system for the suspension. The boot also contains the original jack wheel brace and starting handle.
Over £10k has been invested in improvements over the last few years. Receipts show that the interior was treated to a generous restoration in 2023, at a cost of over £7000. This work including new wooden floors, roof lining, blind and door cards, while retaining the original seat leather. In 2025, the car also received 22hrs worth of mechanical overhaul and recommissioning, costing over £3000. The history file also contains a few old MoT receipts and tax discs, Rover club materials from the late 1980s, and the current V5C.
This is a rare opportunity to acquire an interesting and cherished pre-war Rover.
