1937 AUSTIN SEVEN SPECIAL

This Austin Seven Special was assembled in the 1950s, using a unique aluminium skin over a tubular steel chassis. It has been with its present keeper for 21 years, and comes with a large collection of maintenance receipts going back to 1990, many being from the last few years. We're told it was restored by the previous owner who had the car from 1998 to 2005. During the vendor's tenure it has enjoyed outings to local shows, and competed at venues such as Prescott Hillclimb. It benefits from Speedex Independent Front Suspension (IFS) and the vendor describes it as “a lively, fun drive”.

The 748cc engine is equipped with double valve springs, re-profiled cam follower, 4-branch exhaust manifold and Hadley billet steel crankshaft, electric coolant & fuel pumps and a Crossflow radiator, and it breathes through a 1 1/8-inch SU carburettor.

In addition to the large stack of receipts, the car's paperwork includes photos and correspondents between previous owners, various technical information sheets and guides, a couple of books and a small notebook with wiring details etc. The vendor has also supplied a generous collection of spares, comprising a cylinder block, cam shaft, half shaft, cam gear, engine main bearing, king pin reamer, original headlamps, tonneau cover, aero screens, wheel brace and jack.

The original Austin on which this vehicle was based dates from 9th December 1937. Its registration number SFF 594 is non-transferrable.
