1275cc, manual. Finished in Surf Blue, this lovely Mini was generously restored in 2013-16 by a retired aircraft engineer who invested over £22k in the work. Virtually every part of the car was either renewed or refurbished, and the odometer was zeroed, but it remains a “very original” example of a genuine Mk1 Mini Cooper S. The only significant alteration from its original spec is the gearbox, which is an all-synchromesh unit from a slightly later Mini. Following the car's authentication by the Cooper Register, the DVLA issued a new VIN and the current registration number. (The authentication report describes the car as being built in October 1964, but the DVLA database gives the year of manufacture as 1965.)
The vendor purchased the Mini at one of our sales in 2019 when the odometer was showing 550 miles; today that figure is 2024 miles. It comes with a photo album of good-quality images documenting the restoration, together with spare keys and a large stack of invoices from 2014 onwards showing an impressive ongoing care. These include a receipt for a recent oil change in July 2026.
