1932 WOLSELEY HORNET ‘MARCH’ SPECIAL

This Wolseley Hornet ‘March’ Special, GX 9443 was found abandoned in a Wiltshire chalk pit during the 1960's. Over the years, much work has been carried out to the car including the fitting of a new aluminium body made by MPH Motor Panels. The Ash frame is new and the six cylinder Hornet engine and gearbox have been rebuilt by Brookland Engineering. Interested parties should certainly allocate a decent amount of time to fully inspect the extensive paperwork that comes with this lot. 

Evidence points to the fact that this car, chassis number 26465 was the prototype car for a production run of twenty five cars and was probably coach built by Whittingham & Mitchel. GX 9443 was first photographed in July/August 1932 by Charles Bowers who did the publicity work for Kevill-Davies & March Ltd and was used by Autocar in their August 1932 driving test. It was the demonstrator car for the company who sold the cars as the ‘March Special’ The demonstrator had special features, the most prominent of which included a special ‘March’ badge on the horn. Although further work is required to complete this restoration, much of the expensive and hard work has already been completed, the end result will surely be worthwhile. Comes with current V5, parts and spares pictured and extensive paperwork on this car and other specials.
