This Austin Big Seven has been owned by our vendor since purchased from a private collection of Vintage cars at auction in 1997 and has a fascinating history. Notes in the history file state that the Austin was originally purchased from Henley's of London by a Mr Luis Artus of Hadleigh, Essex and he used the vehicle to collect grain for feeding his chickens and also delivering eggs to the local shops. It is stated that during his ownership he covered some 200,000 miles! The Austin was then sold to his nephew who used the car for work, covering 76,000 miles, prior to going to the Middle East. The car was sold on in 1964 and laid up for many years. In 1992 Andrew Lockwood purchased the Austin and spent two years and some 2000 hours restoring the car. Mr Lockwood traced the son in-law of the original owner and was able to get some copies of photos of the Austin with its original owner. Comes with a good sized history folder containing photos of the restoration, 1947 Buff Log Book, 1997 purchase invoice, assorted correspondence and invoices for repair. 80,241 recorded miles
