This 1956 Austin Princess A135 Limousine was originally supplied to the British Army for use as a staff car for high-ranking officers. It was released from service in 1978 and allocated SJK 460S after registration in March of that year. The owner then sourced a more suitable plate - 33 DYD - which is transferrable. The car runs and drives. Its odometer shows 28,725 miles and the last MoT expired in April 2013 after having been tested the previous year at an indicated 28,185 miles. However, as an historic vehicle, the Princess is now MoT-exempt.
The Austin still sports its Commander in Chief illuminated plate switch and GOC Southern Command insignia. Paperwork includes the V5C, MoT info between 1988 and 2012, British Motor Industry Heritage Trust dating letter, MoTs from 1988 onwards, some invoices, old tax discs and some magazine features and articles.
