1982 FORD ESCORT XR3

This 1.6-litre red Ford Escort XR3 has had only 2 registered keepers from new and shows 41,555 miles on its odometer. The vendor describes it as a "genuine car" that has been garaged since 1997 and reportedly still wears its original paint. He purchased the car from the second owner, who had owned it since 1986, and it has since spent 18 months in trade storage.

Paperwork includes the original handbook pack, tax discs, Haynes workshop manual, MoT certificates going back to the 1980s, and a collection of maintenance receipts. These mostly date from the 1980s and 90s, but one shows over £1200 of recommissioning in February this year. In addition to general servicing, this work included fresh plugs, wheel cylinders, 4 tyres, brake discs and pads, starter motor, battery, fuel pump and various ignition components. Some of the original parts, now replaced, are retained in the boot. The car has not yet been put through an MoT, but as a historic vehicle it is exempt from annual testing requirements.

It is also supplied with a spare key, spark plug spanner, and a stack of pleasingly retro tapes for the original multi-cassette stereo.

The car was first registered on 1st August 1982.
