1971 BEDFORD HA ICE CREAM VAN
1256cc petrol, manual. This Bedford HA ice cream van is equipped with a working freezer and sink, and received new tyres at the end of last year. The vendor, who has owned it since 2019, believes the van was originally converted by S.C. Cummings coachbuilders in Crewe. Its odometer is showing 41,855 miles.
We're told the van “runs fine but has been in storage since 2023 and has not been road tested.” Although there are no maintenance receipts, it comes with a photo album documenting refurbishments made in 2022. These included an engine rebuild which involved new big-end shells, piston rings, valves, copper headgasket and a new starter motor.
The van is equipped with its original Batman Harvin chimes, playing the “One Cornetto” tune). The freezer is a “holdover” type, designed to be plugged in overnight and remain cool during the day.
