1988 TOYOTA MR2 AW11 - ONE REGISTERED OWNER & 41K MILES FROM NEW

1587cc manual. This impressive Toyota MR2 has been owned by our vendor from new, and its odometer shows just 41,018 miles. The car was registered new in September 1988 with the private registration ‘46 LOU’ which is also included in the sale. It has lived in a garage at the same Hertfordshire address for its entire life, and was in regular use until being replaced by a Mazda RX8 in 2005. Ten years later it was put back into service with an advisory-free MoT when the Mazda failed in 2015. Despite being out of action since 2016, we're told it has been regularly started and run on the vendor's driveway every 7-10 days.

Finished in Super Red, the car features a particularly tidy interior with a sunroof, and power comes from a 1.6-litre 4A-GE twin-cam engine via a 5-speed manual gearbox. It does run and drive but there is a slight coolant leak, and some recommissioning is likely to be required due to its 10 years without an MoT. It has also been noted the exhaust will need replacing. 

The car's paperwork comprises previous & current versions of its V5C, a nice collection of MoT certificates going back to 1993, and the original handbook pack. This contains the service book which records 7 services (plus the PDI) in the car's first 14k miles up to 1992. A spare wheel and roof cover are also included.

The vendor is now selling reluctantly due to ill health. She tells us, “I was considering refurbishing the car, which has been garaged all its life, but for me it's the end of an era. It is fitting for the car to go to someone who has the interest and ability to enjoy it.”
