1984 VW BEETLE

1200cc petrol, manual. This lovely Volkswagen Beetle is a late, Mexico-built example which was purchased new in Germany in 1984 by an RAF officer. He brought it to the UK in 1988 and owned it until 2003, and our vendor has owned it since 2018. Its odometer displays just 20,209km (12,557 miles), which is supported by the history, and the V5C confirms there have been only 2 former keepers.

The car is in highly original condition, with a few tasteful extras and modifications added by the original owner. Its specification includes a full-length Britax sunroof with wind deflector, period German ATS alloy wheels (with no scuffs or bubbling), electronic ignition, disc brakes, an alarm system, battery cut-off switch, a stainless steel exhaust with chrome tailpipes, Europa bumpers and overriders, a rare Kamei leather steering wheel, an original leather nose cover and a detachable Volkswagen tow bar.

It comes with plenty of history covering all its life, including a letter from the chairman of the Mexican/Brazilian Beetle Register giving lots of information on this car, which the Register has known since 1986. The original handbook pack includes a service book containing 5 entries, the last being at 20,085km (12,480 miles) in 2018. Despite covering minimal distances, the car has been MoT tested most years of its life, with only one MoT advisory recorded in 2010, and there is a comprehensive collection of MoT certificates going all the way back to its first test in 1988. The latest MoT, now optional, expired in May 2026.
