The Austin FL1 was the seven-seater private hire car version of the more numerous FX3 taxi cab. This 2199cc example was supplied by AC Bulpin of Newton Abbot, according to the plate that is above the passenger door. The vendor has had the engine completely overhauled (with details in the paperwork) as well as had the wiring loom replaced with one from Autosparks. The car is fitted with a stainless steel exhaust as well as flashing indicators. A new battery has recently been installed as well. The vendor reports that the car runs and drives very well, and was restored circa 2002/2003. The odometer shows 19,165 miles while the V5C records three registered keepers since the 1951 car was reregistered in September 1985. As an historic vehicle, the Austin is now MoT-exempt; its last expired in September 2013 after having been tested the previous year at an indicated 17,281 miles.

Paperwork accompanying the Austin includes the current and previous V5Cs, old tax discs (with the earliest being 1974), and some invoices, including one for £4632 for the engine rebuild in September 2022. There's also the owner's manual, Austin workshop manual and parts list.
